Ivan Herrera

Ivan Herrera is a web news producer who is always looking for the next breaking news story. As a digital editor and writer, he is hardwired to all things in social and news media.
 
Herrera started his career with humble beginnings. He graduated from the University of Texas-Pan American in August 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a concentration in broadcast journalism. 

 

While in college, Herrera took advantage of learning all he could in radio and television broadcasting by becoming a member of Bronc Radio and TV, UTPA’s student-run stations. He rose to become the news director, and later station manager, for Bronc Radio. 

 

Herrera was recognized for his work at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association and College Broadcasters Incorporated conventions three years in a row. He also interned at the number one radio station in the Rio Grande Valley, got the experience of a lifetime by becoming a production assistant for a Los Angeles-based production company and became the lead editor/associate producer for the Rio Grande Valley Civil War Trail podcast project.​

 

Most recently, Herrera joined the KSAT 12 News team in July 2016. After spending a year working at KRGV in the Rio Grande Valley, he made the jump to one of Texas' larger markets to accelerate his career to the next level.​
